Good Food Dialogues Listening Sessions and Local Voices Launched to Inform the Future of U.S. Food Policy
The White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, is right around the corner and in preparation, we at Food Systems for the Future are connecting with community leaders, advocates, and people with lived experiences from coast to coast to hear their perspectives on how we tackle and solve the hunger and nutrition crisis affecting communities across the country.
To do that, we have launched a national conversation series – Good Food Dialogues – where anyone and everyone committed to transforming our food system can host a Local Dialogue with their friends, neighbors, and community members and discuss their priorities and solutions for ending hunger as we know it.
Throughout the months of August and September, we also invite you to join a special series we are hosting in partnership with Global Citizen. These sessions will virtually bring together engaged citizens and community organizations from across the country to discuss the future of food policy on a national scale. Each of the six sessions in the series will incorporate diverse perspectives from multiple communities and states in the same conversations to foster engagement and partnership among stakeholders who otherwise might lack the opportunity to connect. We know your time is precious, so to thank you for joining this virtual series, your next meal will be on us! Everyone who participates in one of our Good Food Dialogues x Global Citizen conversations will receive a $30 DoorDash gift card.
While our Good Food Dialogues are local, community-based efforts, they will have a national impact. The conversations had through this series will be summarized and incorporated into a report that Food Systems for the Future will submit to the White House ahead of September’s Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. Because we remain committed to elevating the voices of Americans of all backgrounds and experiences as part of the strategy to make healthy, nutritious food available to every person regardless of geography or economic status.
We know that for some of you, hosting a Local Dialogue may not be possible. So, another way for you to engage is through our online forum, Local Voices, where you can add your voice to the conversation by posting your opinions, stories, perspectives, and solutions related to nutrition and health disparities in your life or in your communities. Like hosting a Good Food Dialogue, Local Voices is just one more way for your opinions to be heard and for you to directly inform the future of food policy in America.
For those of you who choose to host your own Local Dialogue, we never want cost to prohibit participation. We truly value your time and contributions – we could not do this work without you – so we encourage you to take advantage of the $500 grants available on our website available to help you cover any and all related costs related to hosting a Dialogue.
If you haven’t already, join us! Add your voice to this national conversation and be part of a movement promoting a healthier and more equitable future for all Americans.
