Meghan O’Hearn

Meghan O’Hearn is a nutrition epidemiologist and expert in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing for nutrition, focused on creating a healthier and more equitable food system through evidence-based, financial market solutions and food policy in the US and globally. Meghan recently completed her doctoral research quantifying the diet-attributable diabetes burden globally through comparative risk assessment modeling and leveraging evidence-based nutrition metrics to engage with food industry stakeholders to drive a healthier food system. While at Tufts, Meghan was instrumental to the Food Compass project, leading analyses to validate this novel nutrient profiling system against major health outcomes and promoting its use in policy, industry, and public health. Meghan also drove the Tufts ESG-Nutrition project aimed at generating research to inform a science-based agenda for responsible investing in nutrition.
Prior to joining the Friedman School, Meghan worked on designing nutrition programs with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as well as in monitoring and evaluation for Digital Green, an NGO focused on technology-enabled, agriculture-nutrition behavior change communication interventions in India.
Meghan holds a PhD in Food and Nutrition Policies and Programs from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, an MSc in Nutrition for Global Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a BS in Biology for Global Health from Georgetown University.
