Erika Contreras

Communications Manager

Erika Contreras is a Development Economist and Communications Manager at Food Systems for the Future, where she leads strategic communications, digital storytelling, and media engagement to advance the organization’s mission of building nutrition-positive, climate-resilient food systems. She manages the development of press materials, social media strategies, newsletters, and web content across FSF’s global portfolio.

With a background in econometrics and financial analysis, Erika brings a data-driven approach to communication, integrating research insights into narratives that connect policy, investment, and impact. Her technical skills include econometric modeling, forecasting, and proficiency in R Studio, Stata, Excel, Canva, and Photoshop.

Erika holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from the University of Göttingen and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Baja California. Prior to joining FSF, she worked in private healthcare administration as Administrative Services Manager, overseeing budgets, procurement, and marketing strategy. She also completed research internships at the University of Guadalajara and the Northern Border College, contributing to projects on gender, finance, urban development, and the environment.
